Yes, Ted Cruz is a lawyer

And his Ivy League law professors should take pride in how artfully he words the following condemnation of Planned Parenthood -

"Every American should watch that video and say, ‘Are those my values?’ ” the 2016 presidential candidate said at the Family Leadership Summit in Ames, Iowa.

"On tape, it appears a Planned Parenthood official is admitting to multiple felonies.  The U.S. Department of Justice, if it was not simply a partisan arm of the DNC, should open an investigation and prosecute Planned Parenthood. Congress should hold hearings and we should cut off funds."

As an editor, I have nothing but admiration for his well-crafted phrasing.  Because "that video," as he refers to it, IS an outrageous condemnation of a heartless organization that first murders innocent lives, then turns a profit on their remains.  Let's string 'em up!

I doubt that any American would consider the values expressed on "that video" anything but beyond reprehensible & bone chilling.

And Sen. Cruz is 100% correct that "on tape" it does indeed appear that Planned Parenthood copped to multiple felonies.

But the reason the Department of Justice isn't opening an investigation is because "that video" is a highly edited version of the original.  On the original tape, it is clear that the Planned Parenthood official, although not using the hushed tones almost any of us would have wanted her to use, is definitely NOT making the statements presented on the highly incriminating video that Sen. Cruz so disingenuously ignores was edited to malign, not inform.

Sadly, the base to which he so clearly panders cares zip about the facts.  Hey, a highly edited video brought down ACORN;  why not the same outcome for Planned Parenthood, which they despise loathe hate considerably more than those Commie community organizers.  Sen. Cruz is doing precisely what the Nixon operative described - "Reason requires a high degree of discipline, of concentration; impression is easier...  The emotions are more easily roused, closer to the surface, more malleable."

Ted Cruz, champion debater, knows it's not in his best interest to win the factual side of an argument - winning points are found in persuasion, rather than accuracy.

Rep. Steve King still carries a tiny acorn in his pocket to remind himself to the triumph of impression over accuracy that resulted in the gutting of what conservatives considered the unrelenting foe of democracy.  He told reporters he looks forward to carrying an icon that will remind him of bringing down Planned Parenthood.  Ted Cruz is doing all he can to help make that happen.  He knows the video is doctored to implicate indict & condemn Planned Parenthood in the eyes of the public, so Congress can simply bow to its pressure to bring it down.  Look at his words - his lawyerly soul crafts them to provide the maximum condemnation without ever stepping over the bounds into flagrant lie.

Ted Cruz - great lawyer, deft debater, out gunning for Planned Parenthood.
