No, it's not a typo.
It's how I'm feeling.
A young friend's father recently died, leaving a quartet of devoted children & two cats who don't understand that their universe has been torn asunder.
My young friend is in charge of finding a place for the cats. My heart is with them. The center of their universe is no longer, suddenly gone without a last rub of the head, a last skritch behind the ears or at the base of the tail, a last entwining of a tail around his trouser leg. Gone.
And now someone, devoted to their beloved & to them, looks for the best thing to pass for a best solution. Which will probably mean separating the long-time companions, will probably mean new lives with humans having no knowledge of the glorious life they quietly led with a man who loved them & who they loved back.
Dear cats, you are forever in my heart, broken as it is for you.
