Just as Mim lived in the Village at the tag end of its bohemian era, she lived for several weeks in San Francisco at the height of hippies, war protests & free love - 1968 (probably).
Mim never really talked about that time, which must have been incredible. Love it or hate it, the energies around the city were surreal, mind blowing.
My best guess is that she went up to visit Mike, who had an apartment & a job (bartending at the Buena Vista?), probably sometime after discovering that Pasadena Playhouse had closed its doors.
With her mega long hair, gathered skirt & jersey tops, she would have looked every inch a true hippy. For all I know, she had some flowers in her hair!
Mim wasn't one for doing drugs, but she definitely loved the subversive, had an itch for bucking authority. On that level, she would have felt right at home, with her kind!
Oh, to have heard her stories. How I hope they find a manuscript in her things - what tales Mim had to tell!
HEY, MIKE - how about chiming in with some Mim memories of your own from that singular time with your sis! (And maybe clue us into the actual YEAR!)
